Kent has been involved in theatre since high school, acting, singing, and dancing in productions, and singing in choirs throughout San Luis Obispo County. Currently a Board member of the Project Theatre Foundation, he also serves as a Board member of the Paso Robles Foundation for Culture and the Arts. Kent has been involved with the Paderewski Festival and the Class Act Dance Studio's production of the "Nutcracker" since their inceptions. He has been a past Board member for Pioneer Players and "Royalty Chairman" for the Atascadero Colony Days Board of Directors.
